Module Replacement, Programming, Coding, & Cloning

Module Programming, & Coding Services in Soddy-Daisy, TN

Laptop performing ECU flashing in engine bay

Whether you're a DIYer replacing a failed module or even a shop needing programming support, module setup in Chattanooga isn’t limited to the dealer anymore.  At Keeney Auto & Diesel, we program, code, and configure control modules others can't.

Coverage That Goes Beyond the Dealership

Modern vehicles rely on dozens of programmable control modules, and when one fails, it's rarely plug-and-play. From immobilizer pairing to VIN-matched coding, most module replacements require specific hardware, factory subscriptions, or both.

At Keeney Auto & Diesel, the tools are already in place to program, code, and configure replacement modules across virtually all makes and models, including:

  • BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW/Audi, Porsche, & Jaguar/Land Rover
  • Honda/Acura, Hyundai/Kia, and Toyota/Lexus
  • Ford, GM, & Chrysler
  • 1996–present OBD2 systems
  • Even the advanced CAN-FD, DoIP, & Ethernet vehicles

Here, this programming is handled in-house with the tools and methods needed to communicate directly with virtually all manufacturer systems.  Powertrain, body, and communication modules can be adapted or programmed without sending the vehicle anywhere else.

OEM-Level Flashing & Coding—Locally or Remotely

Programming support includes:

  • OEM module flashing with factory & J2534 passthrough devices
  • Online and remote access to licensed programming sessions
  • Safe, stable power supply during flashing with a 120A-grade maintainer
  • Bench programming capability for modules outside the vehicle
  • Cloning solutions for modules not programmable via conventional means

Whether you're replacing a transmission control module, updating an ECM after failure, or retrofitting components, the proper setup matters.  This isn't just scan-tool "resetting", it’s full protocol-level communication with your car’s factory systems.

Even for those vehicles where flashing or setup can’t be completed through standard programming procedures, physical module cloning is also available through vetted partners.  This isn’t a “send-it-off” or “hope-it-works” process.  Each cloned module is tested for communication, verified under load, and installed with correct configurations under controlled conditions before the job is considered complete.

Flashing and Cloning Services That Don’t Stop at the Basics

Red Bank Auto Electric doesn’t work on anything pre-1996.  That leaves a huge segment of OBD1, classic, and early diesel owners stranded.  Our OBD1 support covers:

  • GM 12-pin ALDL and pre-class-2 flash programming
  • Ford EEC-IV, EEC-V flash code diagnostics
  • Chrysler DRB-style data stream analysis

Also, unlike most shops, we support international platforms like Euro & Asian: BMW, Jaguar, Volvo, and more.

That means:

  • J2534-compatible in-house programming for most major OEMs
  • Remote calibration support through secure pass-thru hardware
  • Clone services via hardware partners for unsupported systems
  • Bench testing and programming with custom OBD2 harnessing

These aren’t bolt-on tools.  This is specialized tooling and software, and we know how to use it.

Common Issues That Require Module Programming

  • New PCM installed, now car won’t crank
  • Immobilizer issue after module replacement
  • Replaced BCM, now nothing works
  • Car has no communication with scan tool
  • Dealer said module needs VIN matching
  • Trying to use a used ECU or TIPM
  • Dead cluster after battery replacement
  • Airbag light won’t go away after repair

We service platforms including:

  • Ford (As-Built and PMI support)
  • GM (SPS2 and legacy)
  • Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM (SGW and secure gateway support)
  • Jaguar/Land Rover (including private, custom BCM configurations)
  • Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, and others with J2534 or enhanced "passthru"

Ready for Module Programming?

If you're a local shop needing assistance with a module you can't program—or a client with a part that "just won't take"—reach out.  Programming and configuration are available for most powertrain, body, chassis, and gateway controllers. In many cases, the vehicle doesn’t even need to leave the bay.

Programming is about more than flashing a file — it’s about solving the deeper issue.  From immobilizer pairing to custom calibration support, if it’s electrical and you’ve been told it “can’t be done,” that’s usually where we step in.

The Impending Experience

Venn diagram of fast, cheap, free, and great in auto diagnostics

Vehicles are one of the single largest investments most individuals will ever make in their lifetime.  Typically, they are second in magnitude, only to the purchase of a home.  When something goes awry with your second largest investment, a litany of emotions and eleventh-hour schedule alterations are inevitable.  The only thing that could possibly make the entire ordeal worse, is subsequently realizing that the auto mechanic shop you've chosen to restore your vehicle to its previous, operational state, is one that lacks all ability to communicate clearly, provide accurate timelines, and fix it appropriately the first time around.  The disdain I have for this type of environment is unparalleled and I will always point it out in derision.  While my operation is small-scale, the processes I have in place are designed to directly address the aforementioned deficiencies we've all experienced in these shops.

Not unrelated to these deficiencies, the service and repair industry is hamstrung by the "Unattainable Triangle".  When a shop fails the customer expectation, it is virtually always a result of delivering one of the fast sides of the triangle.  I relay this information to shed light on the detriments of expeditious repairs.  Here, in this business, speed is inconsequential.  Automotive repairs made in haste are invariably inferior, whether you know it or not.
